Action: Why some People Move Before Everyone Else is Ready
Have you ever met someone who seems to make decisions quickly?
While others are still discussing options, they're already taking action.
While others are evaluating risks, they're focused on possibilities.
For some people, this can feel reckless.
For an Action personality, it feels natural.
As we continue our B.A.N.K. series, we're exploring the Action code—the decision-making style that values freedom, opportunity, results, and momentum.
What Motivates an Action Personality?
Action personalities thrive on progress.
They enjoy challenges.
They seek opportunities.
They are energized by movement and often become frustrated when things move too slowly.
They value:
• Freedom
• Flexibility
• Opportunity
• Momentum
• Achievement
They are often willing to take calculated risks if they believe the potential reward is worth it.
How Actions Communicate
Action personalities appreciate communication that is:
• Direct
• Efficient
• Results-focused
• Future-oriented
They generally don't want every detail.
They want the highlights.
They want to know:
• What's possible?
• What's the opportunity?
• How quickly can we move?
The more complicated the message becomes, the more likely they are to disengage.
Leading an Action Personality
Action personalities thrive when they have:
• Autonomy
• Challenges
• Opportunities to win
• Room to innovate
Micromanagement frustrates them.
Excessive bureaucracy frustrates them.
Slow decision-making frustrates them.
As leaders, one of the best things we can do is provide clear outcomes while giving them flexibility in how they achieve them.
Selling to an Action Personality
Action buyers make decisions differently than Blueprints.
While Blueprints want details and process, Actions want outcomes and possibilities.
They typically want:
• Results
• Competitive advantage
• Speed
• Opportunity
• Freedom
The fastest way to lose an Action buyer is to overwhelm them with details.
The fastest way to gain their attention is to show them what's possible.
Actions often buy based on where they want to go rather than where they are today.
What Frustrates an Action Personality?
Action personalities often become frustrated by:
• Slow decision-making
• Excessive rules
• Over-analysis
• Micromanagement
• Lack of progress
They want movement.
They want momentum.
They want results.
Think about someone who always seems ready to move forward before everyone else.
What if they're not impatient?
What if they're simply wired to see opportunity before they see obstacles?
Curious if Action is your primary code?
